A Celebration of Inclusion

Rev. Deborah Morgan

Sunday, September 25th at 11:00 AM we are celebrating 20 years of being a Reconciling Methodist Congregation in our Morning Worship Service. Reverend Deborah Morgan will be our special guest preacher and all are invited

Reverend Morgan, an Ordained Elder in the NC Conference has served as a chaplain for the Methodist Retirement Community, as a Counselor and Assistant Director of the Duke Cancer Patient Program and as a Duke Hospital Chaplain and Chaplain Manager.

Although she retired in 2014, she has continued her faith journey as a proud member and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. She along with close to 100 other LGBTQ Clergy in 2016 signed a letter prior to the United Methodist General Conference outing themselves as gay.

Reverend Morgan has long had strong ties to both of our founding Congregations (Resurrection and Calvary) and we are overjoyed that she will be sharing the word with us on Sunday morning of Pride Weekend in Durham.  We hope you can join us for this special event at Elizabeth Street UMC, located at 1209 N. Elizabeth St.
